Less is More Challenge

This week the LIM challenge was a DL size card sketch. I hadn't made any of this size card for ages and in the last two days I have made three and then this sketch, how peculiar. Trying to keep it plain was difficult because my others had been matted and layered with a large image. I eventually decided to settle on my punched sun and the LOTV sentiment. Quite plain and very simple. I'm not keen on this card. My photo isn't very good either :(

Roll on next week!

  3. Is the sentiment printed on different card from the card blank? It looks like it on my monitor, I think that that maybe why you're not too keen on it... it doesn't quite look as though it belongs. What do you think Hazel?

  4. Yes, Chrissie, it's slightly deeper cream. I think I would have preferred an image rather than a sentiment. I might try again.

  10. Hi Hazel
I think maybe if you had the suns on the bottom or the panel, rather than both, it may have worked better. Sorry you;r not happy with it
    It is striking

  12. I like the bright yellow and the sunshine punch, and that fact that you've stuck on the punched out suns. I like the sentiment too - but I think the white is a different colour to the base card (something I've done many times).

  13. Hazel, I love the bright yellow...and black is always a great color to mix with yellow!

I'll share a little trick I use when photographing my cards. I take a photo from a little ways back, so that there is a background with my card...kind of helps the cards pop out more. I used a solid 12 x 12 cardstock as a backdrop in a coordinating color. Then I just crop the photo down a bit to remove any unwanted areas, but still keep a bit of a border around the card.

  14. Susan - that's exactly what my husband said when I showed him my rubbish photo. He told me I'd cropped it too much. I was trying to crop it like a scanned image.
