OSAAT #183 - Autumn

We have another week with an Autumn theme but this can also include Halloween, Harvest Festival, Thanksgiving, etc. so as I'd made an autumnal card previously I decided to make a Halloween card.

Come across to One Stitch at a Time to show us what you can do and check out the challenge blog for full details of the prizes.

It was time for me to choose an image from Tami at Gingerloft, over at Stitchybear Digi Outlet so I chose Whispering Trees. They look quite eerie and this persuaded me to make the Halloween card with the little witch flying over the trees on her broomstick.

I made an A6 card with Papermill embossed card and it's the first time I've used this size for years. I used Stormy Sky and Black Soot Distress Inks round the edge of the image and then attached it directly to the card base.I tied a dark blue Joanna Sheen organza ribbon round the spine edge and added three black 'gems' to the bottom right. They were from Create and Craft. The little witch charm I bought from Bunny Zoe's Crafts Ltd.

I'm entering this card in to the following challenges:
Bunny Zoe's Crafts - Something Blue
Digi Makeover Challenge - Anything Goes

Just Inspirational Challenge - Metal Embellishment
Ladybug Crafts Ink TLT Challenge - No squares allowed

MAWTT Design Team

I'm pleased to announce that I am going to be a member of the Moving Along with the Times design team as of today!

I need to keep busy as much as possible and the only way to keep motivated is to be challenged with various themes. Thank you to the MAWTT challenge blog for giving me the opportunity.

I hope that I'll be able to fulfill my obligations to the team. I'm really looking forward to getting started and meeting up with as many of you as I can. My first challenge will be 3rd October so please come along and join me on my new journey.

OSAAT #182 - Anything Goes

Everyone's favourite theme - Anything Goes. Come and join us at One Stitch at a Time and check out the DT cards too. This time it was Joseephine's turn to choose an image and she chose 'Clowning Around' by BBKakes at Stitchybear Digi Outlet.

The card blank is a large square by Joanna Sheen and the red card is by Papermill. I matted a sheet of Costco's striped paper on to red card as the background. The image was coloured with Promarkers and a Sakura red glitter pen (for the ruffle down the front of the dress and the heart on the hat, though you can't really see it very well). I cut it into a rectangle and used a vanilla Promarker round the edge - I'd also lined the image with the same colour. It was a perfect size to fit the centre of my card, hmm, good luck or good management? lol I made three red organza bows to mirror the bows on the dress. Mine were not identical bows but by the time I'd battled with my Pinflair glue to position them I'd almost given up the will to live. The ribbon was from Joanna Sheen.  Red pearl stars and gold foil stars, from Create and Craft, were dotted strategically around and then I added a computer generated sentiment. That was matted on to a Spellbinders Resplendent Rectangle die cut in red card. I started off by enjoying making this card but by the time I'd finished I was ready to bin it! It looks reasonably OK now but it's not one of my favourites, however, I do love the image.

Please check out the OSAAT challenge blog for details of the prizes.

OSAAT #181 - Autumn/Fall

The theme this week at One Stitch at a Time is Autumn/Fall. This time it was my turn to choose one of Jess's images at Stitchybear's Digi Outlet and I chose Floral Cap Nouveau L. I've used one of these Floppy Latte's capital letter images before and my DIL, who received the card, loved it. This time I chose the letter L as it's my sister's birthday in October - Libra, and her name is Lorna, the theme was autumn and so all the embellishments were leaves.

Check out the OSAAT challenge blog for details of prizes.

My card blank is a large square, 8x8, by Joanna Sheen. The autumn leaves backing paper is from a Joanna Sheen CD called Fabulous Flowers. I matted the BP on to maroon Papermill card as the background. I coloured the image with my trusty Promarkers and cut with a Spellbinders grand nestie. I set the image slightly to the left and after printing a small list of Ls I cut that with another Spellbinders die, edged it with a burgundy Promarker and positioned that to the top right. I was on for ages cutting a pile of autumn leaves in various shades of cream, red and brown card. I used Spellbinders and Crealies dies for the leaves. I've now got a pile of leaves ready for my next Autumn project!!

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

OSAAT #180 - Use a Digi

Come and join us at One Stitch at a Time for this week's challenge - number 180, Use a Digi. It was my turn to choose an image for my team buddies, Josephine and Shell so I hope they like the image I chose. It's called Steampunk and it's by BBKakes over at Stitchybear Digi Outlet. You can choose to use the image with or without a frame but I like the framed one.(It's good to have a choice!)

My card is a large ivory coloured square by Craft UK. The purple card is from Papermill and the black Mirri board is by Joanna Sheen. I embossed them both with a Cuttlebug folder of Cogs. I set the two embossed panels at an angle and after colouring the image with my Promarkers I cut it round the frame and centred it over the two panels. I coloured the iris of her eyes, hoping that it would look as if she had those weird coloured contact lenses in but they just look odd to me! Never mind, I tried. I used the cogs from a sheet of steampunk stamps by Sue over at Joanna Sheen. I embossed them with silver embossing powder and cut them out very carefully. I decoupaged them over the cogs at the bottom left corner of the image and then embossed another set and put them in the top right to balance the design a bit more. I used black teardrop gems top left and bottom right. A clock charm completed the design and I tied that up with some black silk as the final embellishment. The gems are from Create and Craft but I can't remember where I bought the clock charm, sorry.

Please check out the OSAAT challenge blog for details of prizes.

OSAAT #179 - Make One for Christmas

This week's theme is 'Make one for Christmas' and this is mine. Come over to One Stitch at a Time and join us.  I chose the image by Teri of Delicious Doodles over at the Stitchybear Digi Outlet. The image is called 'Candle and Ivy'.

This week I've used a small 6 x 6 square card by Craft UK. The mat is an embossed white sheet adhered to gold hand made glitter paper by Papermania, The Embossalicious embossing folder is by Crafters Companion.  I coloured the ivy and the candle flame with Promarkers. The candle is covered with gold leaf and some of it hasn't quite stuck but I'm quite happy with it - it looks distressed! lol. My son thinks it looks awful. :(   I cut the image out with a Spellbinders die. My new ivy dies are by Joanna Sheen who has designed a whole load of Signature dies at very reasonable prices. I've been waiting for my ivy die to appear in the post so that I could finish my card. I used two different shades of green from Papermill for the ivy and after adding those to my card I finished it off with two small gold pearls by Queen and Co.

Please check out the OSAAT blog for details of the prize structure.

I'm entering my card in to the following challenges:

I might be a little late in visiting you today as my son and DIL are coming down here for lunch. It'll be good to see them. My other son and DIL have just got back from Greece - they've been texting me most days. I'll be speaking to them on the phone later today. I've just been speaking to Eric's cousin who lives in Meadow Springs, Western Australia.I usually remember too late in the day and think 'oops, I'll ring tomorrow' - and then forget again. Today I remembered at a reasonable time - they are seven hours ahead of us, here in the UK. It's lovely to hear her voice, I have so many happy memories of our holiday out there in 2010.
