'Starting New' is the theme for this week over at One Stitch at a Time. That means it can be a card for any 'new' occasion, baby, birthday, anniversary or you could use a new technique or even a new craft item that you received at Christmas - the options are many so please come along and join us.
My image is called 'Butterfly Profile' and is by Alipeeps over at the Stitchybear Digi Outlet.
I coloured her with my Promarkers and added some Sakura glitter with touches of different colours on the wings of the butterflies. I cut the image with a Spellbinders label die and backed it with bronze Mirri board from Joanna Sheen. The backing paper is from Payper Box and that is also matted on to bronze Mirri board. I used my new Tattered Lace die of the butterfly and flourishes. I used handmade paper by Indus and it's called Brown Lotka. It was incredibly difficult to separate the image from the die and then to get it stuck on to the card was a feat in itself. Maybe next time I use the die I will use a heavier weight of paper or even card. The card blank is by Joanna Sheen.
Please check out the OSAAT challenge blog for details of the prizes on offer.

Hello Hazel, great to get a message from you.
ReplyDeleteMy fault as well as yours we have not been keeping up with comments.
Time seems to run away so quickly
Have had a scroll back and Oh! Goodness! you have been busy making some wonderful creations. Some of those Scene Cards are stunning.
Today's card is stunning such a beautiful image.
Maybe if you had used Waxed Paper or the Handmade Paper plus a sheet of copy paper it might have come out of the Die easier.
Good luck and best wishes for 2014
Happy crafting
Patricia xx
Absolutely gorgeous, Hazel. The image is so beautifully coloured, and I love that butterfly die cut. I'm impressed that it cut so well; it's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh Hazel, I Love this card with a capital L. The contrast of the bronze against the gentle image and background papers is stunning ....especially as you have used it for such gorgeous die cuts. Wow, your butterfly ...worth every bit of patience you used to remove it from the paper and adhere to this card. I love the butterflies in your image having individually coloured sparkly wings. A really gorgeous card dear friend. Love Ingrid xxx

What a stunning creation Hazel, so beautifully coloured. Love the way you have kept the digi as the main part of the card and the butterfly embellishments couldn't be more perfect. Had to laugh at the comment you left on my card re Mum being open minded to a dark card - I am not so sure, so so loves her flowers and I may just have to give in . Hugs Jane xxxx
ReplyDeleteA beautiful serene card Hazel, love your new dies. Carol x
ReplyDeleteGreat coloring, and the die-cuts are a nice touch.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, those detailed die-cuts can be tricky to stick down. I've used wet glue or really narrow tape runners with pretty good success.
Thanks for joining us at Shopping Our Stash!
