#141 OSAAT Fabric, Ribbon or Lace

This image is called Disco Dan and is by Stitchy over at Stitchybear Digital Stamps Shop. The image comes in varying shades of shirt  so I've actually printed Dan three times in varying sizes and colours so I think it's Dan and his two brothers!!

The theme over at One Stitch at a Time is Fabric, Ribbon or Lace and I'm hoping my net passes muster as fabric. I didn't have any fabric suitable as ties for Dan and his brothers so I had to make a backing instead. I used the colours to match their shirts. I then mounted the image on to black Mirri card and set it on top of the three pieces of netting - that was a major job in itself! The lilac piece went missing from my workbench when it was laid out whist I made my mind up as to whether the design would work. After taking advice from people to pray to St Anthony for guidance in finding it and not being successful I decided to wait until the next day.  (I got mixed up and prayed to St Jude so no wonder it didn't work) Anyway, when I woke the next morning I asked Eric to help me find it and he did. I washed the breakfast dishes and as I was coming out of the kitchen there it was behind the kitchen door. Gracie, our white tortoiseshell cat had obviously hooked it out of the design and carried it downstairs to play. I could get back on to the card making without any further delay! Cats!!! The small card blank is from Craft UK and the buttons are from Create and Craft. I'm not sure where I bought the netting but I've had it for years. I tied the buttons with gold twine, again I've had this for ages and it came from I know not where.

#140 OSAAT - Use a Digi

The challenge this week at One Stitch at a Time is Use a Digi so come along and join us and check out the wonderful cards of all the other DT members. My DT buddy, Josephine, chose this image for us both to use and it's called Christmas Candles by Jess over at Stitchybear Digital Stamps Shop

The sponsor this week is Joanna Sheen with a £10 voucher for her online store. Please check the OSAAT blog for details of the prize structure.

I coloured the image with my Promarkers and added some Stickles to certain areas to give it some bling. After colouring was complete I cut it with a Spellbinders grand nestie and then edged it with Distress Ink in Squeezed Lemonade which, I hoped, gave it the glow of the candles. The image was then matted on to a piece of bright red, embossed card from Payper Box. It didn't need any further embellishment as this red card has a beautiful sheen to it. The card blank is a large square by Joanna Sheen.

I'm entering this card in to the following challenges:
Crafty Sentiments - Christmas
LEJ Designs - Seasons Greetings
Divas by Design - Anything Goes
Whimsy Inspiration - Traditional Christmas Colours
Simply Create - Anything Goes
SJ Crafters - Christmas
Southern Girls - Christmas

Thinking of you, Eric

Today would have been our 48th wedding anniversary and I'm thinking of you with so much love. I had a lovely day out yesterday when I went Christmas shopping and then had lunch with my sister. You would have enjoyed the day so much and would have had so many suggestions for gifts for our sons and daughters in law.

I came home, had a coffee and decided to watch some mind numbing TV - nothing too serious or heavy! It didn't make any difference, I cried for hours and went to bed with red and swollen eyes.

I've woken up this morning, had a few words with you, and now I'm going to try and enjoy the day. I'm going out for lunch today with a very old friend, Daphne, so I know you'll be there with us and having a laugh.

#139 Thanks

'Thanks' is the theme for this week's challenge at One Stitch at a Time. I chose the image Flower Vista by Claire of Hope Jacare over at Stitchybear Digital Stamps Shop.

The sponsor is Robin's Nest but please pop over the challenge blog to see details of the prizes.

I coloured the image with my Promarkers and used Diamond Stickles on the centres of the flowers. I cut it by hand and set it on a cocktail pink shiny card from Payper Box. The card blank is a small square from Craft UK. To keep the design simple I typed the word Thanks in dark red, cut it with a Spellbinders small label nestie, edged it with a red Promarker and set it across a dark red organza ribbon which is from Joanna Sheen. To finish it off I added three small dark red pearls from Wild Orchid Crafts.

I'm entering my card in to the following challenges:

I used a Craft UK large scalloped card blank. The red card is from Papermill and the patterned paper is by Payper Box. I used a Spellbinders grand nestie to cut the patterned paper. There are three images in the Vintage Valentine set and I decided to use this heart image. The red heart is cut with a Memory Box die.The red organza ribbon is from Joanna Sheen and then I finished the card design off with some red Card Candi.
