INTAAS Card not square or rectangle

Come and join us with the challenge theme of 'Card not square or rectangle' over at International Art and Soul.

My card blank started off as a Craft UK 7x7 square but I cut it with a large Spellbinder oval die. The yellow paper is double sided from a pad of freebie papers with Cardmaking and Papecraft magazine. I cut two ovals in smaller sizes using the two different sides of the paper as the mat for the ornate Spellbinder heart which I cut in white. The Happy Birthday stamp is from Lili of the Valley vintage set and I coloured the tiny flowers on it with my Promarkers before cutting with another Spellbinder die, this time a circle. The finishing touch was a Snipart embellishment from Craftbox at the top left.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Crafty Sentiments - Happy Birthday
Lemon Shortbread - Anything Goes

IAAS Black and Orange

My card blank is a 7x7 by Crafts UK. The theme over at International Art and Soul is 'Black and Orange. I don't send Halloween cards so decided on a birthday card for my second daughter in law.

She loves dogs so the image was easy, one of Tim Holtz's Crazy Dogs. I stamped it in Memento Ink and after only basic colouring (because I have a white dog - lol) I cut it with a Spellbinder wonky square die. I then matted it on to an orange wonky square slightly larger than the first. The background was a section of embossed orange card and a narrower section of black card. The orange card by Papermill and the black by Sue Wilson. I'm sorry I have no idea where the embossing folder is from. I fixed both sections to a black base that matted nicely on to the card blank. I used a strip of Hobbycraft pearls and black gems to the lower part of the card. The sentiment, if I remember correctly, is by Lili of the Valley. After carefully cutting it out I edged it with my black Promarker to give it more definition and then set it at the top right.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

IAAS Marine, Ocean or Sea

This challenge theme was set by Susie and she wants to see 'Marine, Ocean or Sea' on your makes so please come along and join us at International Art and Soul.

My card is a 7x7 card blank by Craft UK. The pale blue card was embossed with a Crafter's Companion embossing folder before matting on to bright turquoise card as the mat. The card is by Papermill. An image from the internet of the underwater ocean was set at an angle across the top left of the mat. The image of the turtle came from Joanna Sheen's Jayne Netley Mayhew CD and after printing this was also set at an angle across the bottom right. The sentiment is by Lili of the Valley and it was fussy cut and then edged with bright blue Distress Ink. It was fixed to the bottom of a bow die (I think made by Memory Box but I'm not sure). In the bottom left corner I used some John Lewis gold pebbles, to represent sand, and some shells by Beachcomber. Job done,

IAAS Not square or oblong

This challenge was set by Jennie and I'm sure you'll enjoy joining in with us over at International Art and Soul, all we ask is that you don't make the usual square or oblong card.

I coloured the image of 'Fancy Free' by Barb over at Stitchybear Digital Stamps. I've had it for quite a few years so I'm not sure if it'll still be available. Anyway, I love her, and I coloured her with my Promarkers before cutting it with a large classic oval Spellbinders die. I used an A3 sheet of pearlescent pink to cut the Spellbinders large scalloped oval as the base card. The sentiment is by Lili of the Valley and after I'd fussy cut it out I coloured the edge with a Sakura glitter pen and then backed it with pearlescent pink card.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

MAWTT Fantasy

Please come over to Moving Along with the Times and join us in the challenge theme of 'Fantasy' set by June.

I won some digis by Lacy Sunshine just before Christmas and this was one of them. This is my idea of fantasy - a smiling caterpillar at the bottom of my garden.

My card blank is by Craft UK. I made a mat of red Papermill card on which I'd set a sheet of grass coloured paper from a paper pad by Joanna Sheen. I coloured the image with my Promarkers before cutting with a Spellbinders die and edging with Distress Ink. I placed it to the right of the mat and added a red bunting cut with a Joanna Sheen die. The sentiment is by Lili of the Valley and I cut it out carefully before adding to a small scalloped die cut by Spellbinders. I edged the sentiment with a Sakura red gelly roll pen so it glistens,

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

A Perfect Time to Craft - Anything Goes

Guest Designer - 2 Crafty Critters

I was invited, by 2 Crafty Critters, to be  Guest Designer for March and I was pleased to accept. The image was supplied by their sponsor for this challenge, Limited Runs. I chose the image Puppy Love and decided to make a birthday card for my great nephew William. I have a dog called Lily and William hasn't seen her so this card will be to show him Lily. lol You'll have guessed by her name that she is white so no colouring on the image apart from two little pink touches on her ears. I also coloured the envelope with my Ivory Promarker before adding William's name.

This is Lily.

My card blank is a 6x6 by Craft UK. The sheet of silver metallic paper is from a DCWV pad and it was matted on to bright blue card by Papermill. The image was cut with a Spellbinders large oval die and matted on to the large scalloped red die cut. The red card is also from Papermill. I used the number 6 from the Spellbinders alphabet/number die set, cut it in blue and set this on the bottom right corner. The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley and I fussy cut it before adding to another Spellbinders die cut, in red. The little bow at the top is from a separate die which I thought was a Memory Box die but I'm not sure. The star/flower in the top right is from the same die, it hangs from the bottom of the bow, but cut in blue. Obviously I cut two in different colours and then used the bow of one and the star/flower of the other.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Dragonfly Journeys - Year of the Dog
Crafting with Friends - Anything Goes
Crafty Catz - Anything Goes/Optional Twist Birthday
Creative Crafters - Anything Goes

Thank you all for visiting. Please leave Lily some love.

IAAS Lace and/or Pearls

The theme is Lace and/or Pearls over at International Art and Soul, come along and join us, we'd love to see what you make.

My card blank is a 7x7 by Craft UK. The bright turquoise and pale blue card is by Papermill. I embossed the pale blue with an embossalicious folder by Crafter's Companion before matting it on to the bright card. I used a strip of bright lace from the local market and after wrapping it towards the bottom of the mat I added the mat to my card base. The digi image is by Linnie Pink and I coloured it with my Promarkers. I coloured the edges with Distress Ink and then added it to bright turquoise card. I raised the matted image and set it to the top left. Three small pearls were added to the top right of the image. The sentiment stamp is by Lili of the Valley and that was also edged with the Distress Ink and matted on to turquoise card.

IAAS - Stitching Real or Faux

Stitching - Real or Faux is the theme for the challenge over at International Art and Soul. My faux stitching is a bit messy but because it's close work my eyes weren't too good, sorry.

I used an 8x8 ivory coloured card blank by Craft UK and then added a mat of beige Papermill card. The Tonic lace layering die in large size was used for the next layer. I only fixed the centre panel so that the lacy edge stands proud. The flower stamp was a freebie from a magazine and I stamped it in Memento ink Rich Cocoa before cutting out with a Spellbinder die. I used the embossed edge to try and keep my faux stitching in place and for this I used my Promarker in brown (oops, placed back in tray before I noted the exact colour!) That was fixed slightly above centre and then I added two swirls in beige using my Tattered Lace die. The sentiment is by Lili of the Valley and that was stamped in brown and added to beige card too. Three gold pearls by Michael's stores (yay, I've had them years and just got round to using them) were added to the top right.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

MAWTT Things with Wings

Come over to Moving Along with the Times and join us in this week's challenge, the theme set by Judith of 'Things with Wings'. There's plenty of scope there for your creative juices to get working. I started off with  a bird at first and then changed to butterflies - they always seem happier to me! lol

I used a small square card from Craft UK and used bright blue card as a mat but where I got this card from I have no idea. I can't ever remember buying it. The little butterflies, cut in various colours with a Martha Stewart punch, were randomly placed around the Lili of the Valley sentiment. I matted the sentiment on to a gold scalloped circle cut with a Spellbinders die. The border of flowers is a Memory box die and after cutting it in white I coloured it with my Promarkers.

I'm hoping that my eyes will stay open long enough for me to enter into some challenges. I've typed this post all in one go so you can tell that my eyes have improved remarkably. I had a larger dose in my injections at the beginning of January and it's made a big difference - I've even noticed it myself. Thank you all for your kind wishes and I will get round to visiting you all soon, I hope.

Inspiration Destination Challenge 3

We're on to Challenge 3 at Inspiration Destination and the standard theme is Anything Goes. Please come along and join us.

Our sponsor this week is My Whimsical Little World and the image is called Bed of Autumn Leaves. I used a Joanna Sheen card blank and then added a mat of dark brown pearlescent card and a beautiful backing paper by First Edition from their pad Hideaway. After colouring the image with my Promarkers I cut with a Spellbinders grand oval nestie. I set it at a slight angle before adding more Spellbinder diecuts of various leaves. The sentiment is one of a Lili of the Valley grunge set that I bought at Alexandra Palace craft fair. I added three small faux gems, from JJD Cards, to the oval and you might not notice but I did touch a couple of leaves with some gilding flakes by Imagination Crafts, also from Ally Pally.

Inspiration Destination - Anything Goes Challenge 2

This is our second challenge over at the new blog 'Inspiration Destination' so come along and join us.

My card blank is by Joanna Sheen. The purple card is by Papermill and the pretty backing paper is from Dovecraft. The image, Chopper, is by Dr Digi and is available here.

I coloured the chopper image with my Promarkers and cut with a Spellbinders die before using Distress Ink on the edges. I cut three lengths of purple card in various widths and crossed them across the backing paper. I made three very 'dodgy' looking banners and added a gem to the bottom of each. The gems are part of  my new supply from Meiflower that I bought at the Alexandra Palace Craft fair last weekend. The Grungy stamp is from Lili of the Valley, also bought at Ally Pally, and backed with a purple scalloped die cut. This brings back happy memories of my two sons riding their Chopper and Tomahawk bikes when they were young.

Moving Along with the Times - Sketch

This week at Moving Along with the Times the theme is to follow the sketch, shown above. I followed it very closely ! lol

I used lilac pearlescent card, from I know not where, for the A5 card - it's the first one in this size that I've made for years but I have to say that I quite enjoyed doing it. The backing paper is from Dovecraft. I used darker lilac card for the four strips and the backing to the image and sentiment, again it's pearlescent but I have no idea where I bought it from. The image is a Lili of the Valley digi and I coloured her with my Promarkers. The only embellishments were little lilac pearls from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Fitztown - Shaped Card

I don't very often make shaped cards but I decided to throw caution to the wind this week and join in with this Fitztown Shaped Cards challenge. I chose Floral 3 to be my image, available from the Fitztown store.

I coloured the pansies with my Promarkers and added some Stickles to the centre of the large flower. The shape of the image decided my card shape and so I used my grand Spellbinders classic oval to cut it out. I used Distress Ink on the edges and then decided to mat it on to the grand scalloped oval which I cut using an A3 sheet of off white textured card from Papermill.  I added Wild Orchid Craft pearls, in two different shades of purple, to the scallops. The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley and after fussy cutting and edging with Distress Ink I raised it on foam pads for some dimension.

Please check the Fitztown challenge blog for details of prizes.

MAWTT - I do like to be beside the seaside

Our hostess this week is Claire and she chose 'I do like to be beside the seaside' as the theme for this week's challenge over at Moving Along with the Times.

I used the image from Joanna' Sheen's 'Faye Whittaker collection' cd as I knew there were lots of lovely images of the seaside on it. This reminds me of when I was small standing at the edge of the sea and getting lost in dreams. It could have been me except I would have had very dark curly hair and probably a pink dress!

I used a Craft UK scalloped card blank. The pale blue card is from Papermill and the backing paper is also from the cd. I used my Spellbinder dies as you can see - I'd be lost without them. After cutting the image from the sheet I used my Carl corner rounder on the corners. The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley and is heat embossed with Sparkle and Sprinkle's Blueberry embossing powder. Some tiny shells from Beachcomber are the only embellishments.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Brown Sugar Challenge - Summer

Tiger Lily

This image is called 'Lilleth' and is by Teri of Delicious Doodles. However, I've decided to call her Tiger Lily because I've coloured the lilies as tiger lilies. We had masses of tiger lilies in our garden when I was young and I always loved them. Unfortunately, I've never been very successful at growing them in my own gardens over the years.

After I'd decided to colour them as tiger lilies that decided the rest of my colour scheme - orange and green. A very bright and cheery card. I coloured the image with Promarkers and after cutting as a rectangle I matted it on to lime green card. The card blank is by Joanna Sheen and the orange and green card is all from Papermill. The image is so beautiful that it doesn't really need many embellishments so I kept it relatively simple. It was matted on to a bright orange base that I embossed with a Crafter's Companion 'A Stitch in Time' embossalicious folder. I added a lime green cord down the right with a Lili of the Valley sentiment set at the top of the cord. I stamped the sentiment and embossed it with Cosmic bronze embossing powder before cutting with a Spellbinders lacy circle die. I added a few green gems in the corners, job done.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Crafts Galore Encore Challenge - Creating with colour (use your favourite colour - mine is green).
Crafting by Designs - Anything Goes

Moving along with the Times - Card for a Female

It was Hazel's (Didos) turn to choose the theme for this week's challenge over at Moving along with the Times and she chose 'Card for a Female'. I always need loads of these throughout the year so it was good to get started.

I used a large Joanna Sheen card blank and then decided to use a Saturated Canary image that I've had for months and never used. I coloured her with my Promarkers and cut it with a Spellbinders grand nestie circle. I used pale green card from Papermill for the background and I embossed it with a Crafter's Companion embossalicious folder. I matted it on to dark green card from Payper Box to just give a fine darker edge. The pale pink border along the bottom is from another Spellbinders set of dies, Parisian Accents. The sentiment is, of course, from Lili of the Valley, stamped and matted on to Spellbinders circle nesties. I used a darker pink pearlescent card to cut out two swirls that come with a Tattered Lace Butterfly die.

Come over to MAWTT to see all the beautiful cards made by the rest of the design team.

Whoopsi Daisy Flowers Galore

Flowers Galore - that's the theme for this week's challenge over at Whoopsi Daisy. HOWEVER, if you use a Whoopsi Daisy image it's always Anything Goes. Please come and join us. The image is from sheet 346 and is available here.

I used a small card blank from Craft UK. I've coloured the image with Promarkers and cut with a Spellbinders nestie. I matted it on to a scalloped nestie in orange pearlescent card from Papermill. The flowery backing paper is from a Papermania pad of 100 papers that I've had for years. I matted that on to plain orange card. The small roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the beautiful flowers with the pearl centres are from my friend Nataliya . The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley - maybe I should have reduced it in size? Too late now, it's well and truly stuck down. I smudged the edges with two shades of Distress Ink.

With the help of all my friends, relatives, crafting and blogging buddies I'm feeling as if I'm slowly making my way forward. I've had hundreds of emails and messages of support and I'm counting my blessings as I know this is what Eric would have wanted. Thank you all.

Whoopsi Daisy - Use up your Stash

The theme of the challenge over at Whoopsi Daisy is 'Use up your stash'. It doesn't matter how much stash I use up, it multiplies all by itself and I've got just as much as when I started! lol

My card is a large square blank by Craft UK. The lime green card is by Papermill and the lovely backing paper is from a First Editions pad called 'Hideaway'. I coloured the image, from sheet 361 over at the Whoopsi Daisy shop, with my Promarkers. I cut it by hand and matted it on to more green card. The ribbon is from my dwindling Australian stash. The gem flowers were bought from Create and Craft I don't know how many years ago and so were the buttons. I fixed the buttons to some little fancy die cuts from a Spellbinder die - I have no idea which set the die was from, sorry. I used green silk to tie the buttons and the sentiment is from LOTV.

Please come along and join us for this challenge. The winner's prize is a sheet of Linnie's wonderful digis and there are four on a sheet. Linnie often provides a freebie too so that you can enter using one of the Whoopsi Daisy images.

#121 Rainbow Vista

I want to apologise for being missing over the past week. We've changed internet service provider and had a few hiccups at first. Hopefully these are all resolved now. However, my husband is very poorly and so crafting time has been sidelined to some extent.

The theme for the challenge over at One Stitch at a Time is 'Sun' and I think my card is sunny! Maybe too sunny? The image I used is 'Rainbow Vista' by Claire of Hope Jacare over at Stitchybear Digital Stamps Shop. I loved colouring this quirky image, I love Claire's designs full stop.

I used a card blank by Craft UK and the cream backing paper is by Papermill. The shiny yellow card is by Payper Box and all the other papers and card are by Papermill. I coloured the image with Promarkers and cut with the Spellbinders grand circle nestie before edging with Distress Ink in Squeezed Lemonade. I used various sizes in Spellbinders circle nesties for the background circles. Two of them are coloured with a flower pattern from a Creative Expressions Mask. To finish it off it only needed the 'You make me smile' sentiment from Lili of the Valley. I think we will all smile in the UK if we ever see the sun again this year. This digi image is perfect for this year's summer in the UK - rain, sun, rain, sun, rainbow and more rain!

Whoopsi Daisy White on White

I want to emphasise that this is a White on White card and I fulfilled the challenge by using only white cards and papers. Had I used any cream card or paper I would have felt that I had not met the challenge. Just in response to some of the very nice comments already made on this card.
This week's challenge over at Whoopsi Daisy is White on White. This is the first time I've made a WOW card so it WAS a challenge but I enjoyed it. I didn't realise there were so many shades of white!!

I used a small card blank by Craft UK. I embossed more white card using two Cuttlebug folders, the well known Swiss Dots and a floral one - but I've forgotten the name of that one. I used a Spellbinders die to cut the fancy strip that covered the join of the embossing and then I matted the embossed card to white pearlescent card. I used one of the images from sheet 355, available here, and coloured her with a Sakura white Souffle pen and Promarkers. A Spellbinders oval nestie was used to cut the image and then that was matted on to the scalloped nestie. A pearl brad brad from Wild Orchid Crafts was added to two corners and a small LOTV sentiment completed the design.

I'm entering this card in to the following challenges:
