International Art and Soul - CAS

The challenge over at International Art and Soul is CAS - Clean and Simple, set by DT member Maggie.

Once again I'm using a Craft UK card blank but this time it's not a square!

I used a stamp by Judi Ikins and it's called Wispy Bamboo. The small sentiment is by Glenda Waterworth. They were both stamped directly on to the card blank using a Moss Green Distress Ink. I know that a bamboo is not a weed, nor a flower, but I had to have one removed from my raised garden bed not long after I moved here - it was growing like a weed and was huge. The sentiment is very true in lots of respects - thinking of the pretty buttercups and dandelions but certainly not that bamboo.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Crafty Sentiments - Anything Goes
Lemon Shortbread - Anything Goes
Make My Monday - Slimline card
Crafty Creations - Anything Goes
Aud Sentiments - Anything Goes + a sentiment
Stinkin' Inkers - Long and Skinny

Thank you to all my visitors.

#108 Use a Digi

The challenge over at One Stitch at a Time this week is - Use a Digi. I've used Ike's 'Peacock' which you can buy over at Stitchybear's Digital Stamp Shop.

I used a large square card blank by Craft UK. The backing paper is from Glenda Waterworth's Peacock Summer Party CD and the black card is from Papermill. I coloured Ik'es image with Promarkers and then matted it on to Papermill's white pearlescent card to make it stand out. The peacock feather is from Hobbycraft. I used bronze and pearl Cosmic Shimmer PVA to make pearl drops at the bottom corner. The sentiment was generated on the computer before being matted on to white pearlescent card.

The sponsors for this challenge are The Robin's Nest

http://www.robinsnest-scrap.com/ and Stitchybear, who is supplying a mini collaboration set of digis.

I'm entering this card in to the following challenges:
Crafting When we Can - Things with Wings
Can You Digi It Ch. 6 - Pretty Peacock
Prairie Fairy Fridays - Anything Goes
Stamp, Scrap and Doodle - Things with Wings

Guest Designer

I was invited to be the Guest Designer for September by the CD Sunday Challenge team. I was delighted to accept and this is my first card for them. The theme is 'Inspired by Peacocks'. I had so much fun making this card so come along and join us. There are some wonderful challenges along the way.

I used a large square card blank by Craft UK. The backing paper is from Glenda Waterworth's Peacock Summer Party and it's backed with Papermill's turqouise card. The main image is from Joanna Sheen's Enchanted Dreams CD. A large peacock feather from Hobbycraft is set at an angle across the card and a light turqouise seam binding from WOC is tied across the bottom with a bow at the base of the feather. A sentiment by Lili of the Valley is stamped in turqouise and cut with a Spellbinders circle nestie and backed with the scalloped circle.

LIM Challenge

This week the Less is More Challenge was to use acetate. Well, first of all, I was busy redecorating my craft room so thought that I wouldn't get a chance to make a card. However, after working my little socks off I did finish and posted some photos on my blog to let you see. Then, second of all, I'm not keen on using acetate on my cards so would this persuade me to give this week a miss? No, I was determined to try and so I used as little acetate as necessary but it is there! This card blank has a Cuttlebug embossing folder of flowers on bronze Mirri card down the left and another at an angle across the centre, saying 'with love'. A small Glenda Waterworth stamp 'weeds are flowers too' was stamped, with Stazon, on to the acetate and then trimmed to shape. It was fastened in the bottom right corner with a Dovecraft brad.
