MAWTT Wild Animal

Join us at Moving Along with the Times to show us your project with the theme 'Wild Animals'.

My card blank is 8x8 by Craft UK. I used a Clarity stencil on a piece of lime green Papermill card, colouring the reeds and moon with Distress Inks. A piece of dark green Papermill card was laid alongside it and then matted on to dark green card as the background to the image. The image came from Joanna Sheen's Jayne Netley Mayhew CD and I set it at an angle across the background card. Using more of the dark green card I used Spellbinder dies to cut leaves which I added to the top and bottom. I also used the Sheena Douglas stencil from Crafter's Companion to make more leaves which I coloured with Distress Inks before fussy cutting and adding to the top right and bottom right.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

International Art and Soul - Wings

Come along and join us this time in our challenge at International Art and Soul - we have the theme of 'Wings'.

I've used a scalloped 8x8 card blank by Craft UK. My stamped image is a Dragonfly by Visible Image. I coloured it with Sakura Gelly Roll pens to give the glittery sheen to the wings. I then cut it out leaving a very thin white edge. That was put to one side whilst I used a Clarity stencil and some Distress Inks in various shades of green to make the background of reeds and bulrushes. When that was completed I matted it on to lime green card by Papermill. I matted it on to my card blank and then added the dragonfly The sentiment, again by Visible Image, was cut with a Spellbinder die, tinged with green Distress Ink and then raised to the right of the design. Five small green gems by Mei Flower were added to the top right and left corners.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
My Time to Craft - No Designer Papers
Crafting with Friends - Anything Goes
Simply Papercraft - Anything Goes
Crafty Girls Creations - Anything Goes
Word Art Wednesday - Anything Goes

Thanks for calling in.

MAWTT In the Wild

This week it's my turn to host the challenge over at Moving Along with the Times and I chose the theme In the Wild. So come along and join us with your take on this theme - country, weather, animal or whatever it conjures up for you.

I chose to use the tiger image available at Fitztown as I've had the image for a while and not used it. My large square card blank is by Joanna Sheen. I used a Clarity stencil to create the reeds and leaves behind the tiger, using a Frayed Burlap Distress Ink through the stencil to give the sludgy colour. The image was coloured with my Promarkers and then I tore it out close to the outline. My Spellbinder leaf dies came into play again as I placed a couple under the tiger and some hanging over his head. To finish it off I used my Spritzer and Marsh green Promarker to spritz the whole page to give it an undergrowth feel. I'm not sure that it worked but with my eyes the way they are I had to settle for this.

I look forward to having my eyes put right eventually so that I can join in and comment on all your lovely entries.

Moving Along with the Times - Furry Friends

This week the theme is Furry Friends over at Moving Along with the Times. Please come along and join us.

My furry friends are my cats Gracie and Casey but until a few years ago I also had a Maine Coon called Maisie and this stamp looks exactly like her when she was a kitten. I didn't colour the image because it has so much detail in the drawing I didn't want to spoil it. It's a Clarity stamp and I cut it with one of the cheap dies that I bought from Joanna Sheen - there's no name on the packet. I typed Happy Birthday in red and cut that with a Spellbinders die. The backing paper is from Costco and that's matted on to Papermill red card.  The small card blank is by Craft UK and the red organza ribbon is from Joanna Sheen, as are the pearls.

It would have been our 49th wedding anniversary today so I'm thinking of all the happy memories. Thanks for visiting me and keeping my spirits up.

I'm entering my card in to the following challenges:

Artistic Impressions Challenges - Use a Sentiment, Anything Goes
Digi Sketch Challenge - All for the Animals
Creative Card Crew - Pearls
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes

Things with Whiskers

Well, I've made a card! It's taken me best part of the week to finish it but I'm reasonably happy with it so maybe my mojo is coming back. The theme over at the CD Sunday Challenge Blog is 'Things with Whiskers' and that, for me, can't be anything else but a cat!

My card blank is a small 6x6 square by Craft UK. The red Mirri board is from Joanna Sheen and I've used Joanna's Ivory Cats CD for the backing paper. The red ribbon is from Create and Craft as are the red buttons. I stamped the Clarity stamp with black Memento ink and coloured it with my Promarkers.

Thanks for all the best wishes re Eric's scan. It hasn't been confirmed as yet, but it's probably a rheumatoid arthritis nodule - just a very big one, which was why it was scanned. He has others which present themselves as RA nodules, this one was odd! Anyway, it's all positive, thanks for your messages.

Cat

No challenge card today, just a card that I made for a friend who asked me to make this one for someone she knows who likes purple and cats!

I've used a Craft UK scalloped card and lilac card from Papermill. I have no idea where the backing papers are from, I suspect the flower one is printed from a Joanna Sheen CD. I've used Spellbinder dies and a Clarity cat stamp. The ribbon is from Australia.

It's not as purple as it could have been but I didn't want to overdo it!

Still raining today but let's hope tomorrow is better.
