MAWTT Swirls and/or Curls

After a long break due to my eye problems I hope I'm back for good. I'm bringing you my theme this week 'Swirls and/or Curls' for the challenge over at Moving Along with the Times. My design team friends have been helping me out with entry comments whilst I've been on my break so I'd like to say a huge thank you to Wendy and Jenny.

It's taken me a few days to get my card finished but at last it's done. My base card is by Joanna Sheen. I love this paper that came from a huge Costco pack that I bought quite a few years ago and I haven't had an opportunity to use this pattern. I decided her curls would make a show on my card along with a Snip Art wooden swirl that I bought online at Craftbox. I matted the paper on to dark red Papermill card (to match her dress). I placed the swirl to the left and then set some Wild Orchid Craft flowers at the base of the swirl along with some die cut leaves. I added a few red Mei Flower gems amongst the flowers and then added a gem to her ribbon in her hair and to the band on her wrist. She looks the kind of girl who would like gems. lol

I'm hoping you'll come along to join us in our challenge and to welcome me back.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Artbymiran Challenge 75: Anything Goes
Crafting with Friends Challenge 34: Anything Goes
Makingmemoriescrafting Challenge 1: Anything Goes
Morgan's ArtWorld Challenge 1: Anything Goes

Moving Along with the Times Give Thanks

Claire has set the theme this week over at Moving Along with the Times and she chose 'Give Thanks'. This will cover Thanksgiving in the US and thanks for any other reason. I chose to make a 'thank you for being my friend' card.

The scalloped card blank is by Joanna Sheen. I used a Crafter's Companion embossalicious folder to emboss the background sheet of white paper. The Friendship sentiment is a stamp from Bee Crafty. After stamping I cut with a Spellbinders die and raised it as the focal point of the card. I used some Wild Orchid Craft flowers to add to the edge of the sentiment. The leaves are from various dies. The little thank you sentiment was typed on the computer and cut with another, smaller, Spellbinders die.

I'm going to attempt to add to some challenges, if my eyes stay open long enough!
Cuttlebug Mania - Embossing
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes
Crafting from the Heart - Anything Goes
IncyWincyDesigns - Tic Tac Toe - Flowers, Free, Girly
Simon Says Stamp - Thanks/Thanksgiving

Well, I've managed a few but will have to stop now. Thanks for visiting.

Fitztown Flowers and Leaves

This is my card for the Fitztown challenge of 'Flowers and/or leaves'. My large card blank is by Joanna Sheen and the embossed sheet is with an embossalicious folder by Crafter's Companion. The pink card is all by Papermill. I coloured the roses with my Promarkers and then cut with a Spellbinders grand scalloped nestie matting it on to the larger size in pink and raising it on foam pads. I added some Wild Orchid Crafts roses and used my various leaf dies to cut the leaves in green card. The sentiment was generated on the computer and after cutting with another Spellbinders die, edged with Spun Sugar Distress Ink.

Fitztown 'Have a Heart'

Come and join us at Fitztown Challenge Blog for our theme this month of 'Have a Heart'. Of course, that means we want to see a heart somewhere on your card.

I've used the image Bridal Wedding Day 1 which I hope is still available in the Fitztown Etsy store. If anyone has a problem finding any of the images I use for Fitztown you can send an email to sales@Fitztown.com and someone will assist you in finding the image you want.

The card blank is by Joanna Sheen. I coloured the image with my Promarkers and a Sakura silver pen for the lace and head dress and then cut it into a rectangle. I used the Couture Creations 'Tied Together' embossing folder for the background paper and then matted it on to silver card. The heart and key are Spellbinder dies and I cut them in silver card from Papermill. The little heart and saying is from Tim Holtz - bought in Florida at Christmas and first time I've used them, so cute. I've used my new Sue Wilson bow dies again to make the bow at top left and, once again, put a rose in the centre. The flower is from Wild Orchid Crafts.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Crafting for all Seasons - Dies and/or Punches
Miriam's Crafting Blog - Romance
The Sisterhood of Crafters - Sweethearts and Roses
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Add a little Texture

Guest Designer

Today I'm a Guest Designer for 613 Avenue Create using a Fitztown image of Floral 3 available here.

It's also a RAK day on 17 February so I've made this door hanger for a friend to hang on her craft room door. We all need a quiet time and what better than to have it in your craft room?

I coloured the image with my Promarkers and tore it out before using Distress Ink on the torn edges. The MDF plaque, which I bought from Joanna Sheen a few years ago, had already been painted with yellow emulsion paint before I added purple Cosmic Mist on top of it. The shimmer didn't show up very well but the colour works. The lilac lace with ribbon was from the local market and I lay that close to the bottom edge. I used a Spellbinders oval nestie and laid that at an angle to the left with a torn scrap of 'musical' paper, again edged with the Distress Ink. alongside it. I arranged the Floral image over the two. The sentiment is from Joanna Sheen. I was in a tearing frame of mind (lol) so I tore this out too and edged it with the Shaded Lilac Distress Ink, as before. I set this to the right and added three Mei Flower lilac pearls under the sentiment. I also added some of these to the oval nestie for added bling! To finish it off I added three Wild Orchid Craft flowers with some die cut swirls that a friend sent me, thanks Nataliya. Of course, it still needed a hanger so I used some of my new purple ribbon that I bought at Jo-Ann's when we were in Florida at Christmas. I fastened the ribbon on each side with a Dovecraft jewel brad.

I didn't expect to get this finished as my eyes have been really bad over the past few weeks. Roll on 18 March when I hope that an injection will sort them out for the next three or four months.

I'm entering this plaque into the following challenges:
City Crafter Challenge - You Matter
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes
Crafting from the Heart - Anything Goes
Through the Purple Haze - Use some Flowers
Anything but a Card Challenge - Friendship
Catch the Bug Challenge - Anything Goes

Thank you all, once again, for visiting. I'm hoping that I can return the favour just as soon as my eye situation is resolved.

MAWTT Inspired by your favourite TV programme

Come and join us at Moving Along with the Times with Hazel's theme of 'Inspired by your favourite TV programme'.  My programme was 'The Voice' which isn't my favourite programme but is pretty close. I couldn't think of what to do for 'Death in Paradise' - lol.

My large card blank is by Joanna Sheen. The image is Chanteuse Jazz Baby by Rick St Dennis and I've coloured her with my Promarkers. I cut her with a Spellbinders grand oval nestie and then matted it on to a yellow scalloped nestie. The yellow card and the burgundy card is from Papermill, the pink glitter card is by Create and Craft from years ago. I bought the Sue Wilson bow dies in September and this is the first time I've used one of them. The rose in the centre of the bow is by Wild Orchid Crafts. The sentiment is one I got free last week in a craft magazine. The whole sheet of stamps, by Clearly Besotted, has flowers, butterflies, a jar, a sweet and three sentiments. I only bought the magazine because of the stamps! The sentiment was coloured with my burgundy Promarker and then matted on to another Spellbinders oval die cut in burgundy.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Crafting from the Heart - Anything Goes
Craft your Passion - Anything Goes
Get Creative Challenge - Red, white and Pink
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Red and Pink

Thanks for popping by, it's always good to see you and I love reading your comments.

Inspiration Destination Challenge 18

This week at Inspiration Destination our sponsors are My Whimsical Little World and Bugaboo.

I chose Bugaboo's image of Stella Tidbits - Message, you can buy her here, and this is my card.

The card blank is by Craft UK. I used a sheet of My Mind's Eye paper as the backing sheet and wrote the notes of Stella's day in pencil. It's supposed to be a whiteboard in her office! lol The corners of the paper were rounded with a Carl's corner punch. I coloured the image with my Promarkers and fussy cut her, leaving the paper between her and the computer. The sentiment, which also comes from Bugaboo, was cut, corners rounded, and then edged with Distress Ink. I used Marianne dies for the swirl and the leaves. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Scrap and Craft Challenge - Anything Goes
Artbymiran Challenge - Anything Goes

MAWTT - Sparkle and/or Shine

This is my card for Team B's week at Moving Along with the Times. It was Sue's turn to decide on the theme and she chose Sparkle and/or Shine.

My card is a large square by Joanna Sheen. The white paper was embossed with a Crafter's Companion embossalicious folder and was then matted on to the base card as background for this beautiful image. The rose is a Fitztown image and you can buy it here.  I coloured it with my Promarkers and then cut with a Spellbinders classic circle and matted on to a dusky pink scalloped circle. The dusky pink card is from Papermill. The diamond butterfly is from The Handcrafted Card Company. The fabulous 'fabulous' was a pressie from Laurie, a DT buddy. The only other embellishments were little pink pearls from Wild Orchid Crafts.

My card has already been sent to a good friend.

MAWTT - A Stitch in Time

This week the theme is 'A Stitch in Time' set by big boss Hazel (Didos). Come along and join us at Moving Along with the Times.

My card blank is by Joanna Sheen. The pink card is by Papermill and the glitter card is from a craft fair. I used some yellow pearlescent card from Hobbycraft and embossed it with a Crafter's Companion embossalicious folder before matting it on to the Papermill pink card as the base for my stamped image. This is a very old rubber stamp by Joanna Sheen and I stamped it in Memento ink before colouring with my Promarkers. I cut it using a Spellbinders resplendent rectangle and backed it with the larger size rectangle cut in pink glitter. The bobbin in the bottom corner is a Memory Box die and I added some salmon coloured silk to it along with a couple of pins. I generated the sentiment on the computer, backed it with pink card and added three small pearls from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Moving Along with the Times - Sketch

This week at Moving Along with the Times the theme is to follow the sketch, shown above. I followed it very closely ! lol

I used lilac pearlescent card, from I know not where, for the A5 card - it's the first one in this size that I've made for years but I have to say that I quite enjoyed doing it. The backing paper is from Dovecraft. I used darker lilac card for the four strips and the backing to the image and sentiment, again it's pearlescent but I have no idea where I bought it from. The image is a Lili of the Valley digi and I coloured her with my Promarkers. The only embellishments were little lilac pearls from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Fitztown - Altered Item

I did have fun with this one! This is the challenge this week at Fitztown Challenge Blog - an altered item. I was assigned the image Cameo 18, available here, and decided to alter a box, yes, I know it's a bag but here's what happened........................

I'd almost finished colouring the image and it was looking good. I'd done the skin and hair and the next day decided to give her antique pink lips, picked up my Promarker and the ink gushed out. It's the first time this has happened and she had very smudged lipstick. I touched a rose and she ended up with a pink neck too. It went in the bin. I coloured another and didn't use antique pink! I was going to use a box that used to hold fabric flowers and I covered the base beautifully in a lovely mottled pink paper. I made a start on the lid and made a right hash of it so that was binned too. I went for the easier option this time and used a simple paper bag.

My image was coloured with Promarkers and then I cut and embellished with one of my new Spellbinders Curved Borders Two at the top and bottom of the image. I then matted it on to pink pearlescent card. This was matted on to another Spellbinders diecut in bright pink card from Papermill. I also added the same shape to the other side of the bag to strengthen it. A Spellbinders Parisian border was added to the top of the turnover on the bag to give it a neat finish. I closed the bag with a pink star brad, from Create and Craft, and then all I had to do was add the pink paper roses which are from Wild Orchid Crafts. The green leaves are cut with Crealies dies. This will be used to hold a scarf for someone's birthday. A friend saw this just after it was finished and she nearly grabbed it for herself so I think it was a hit!

Check out the challenge blog for details of prizes.

Fitztown - Shaped Card

I don't very often make shaped cards but I decided to throw caution to the wind this week and join in with this Fitztown Shaped Cards challenge. I chose Floral 3 to be my image, available from the Fitztown store.

I coloured the pansies with my Promarkers and added some Stickles to the centre of the large flower. The shape of the image decided my card shape and so I used my grand Spellbinders classic oval to cut it out. I used Distress Ink on the edges and then decided to mat it on to the grand scalloped oval which I cut using an A3 sheet of off white textured card from Papermill.  I added Wild Orchid Craft pearls, in two different shades of purple, to the scallops. The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley and after fussy cutting and edging with Distress Ink I raised it on foam pads for some dimension.

Please check the Fitztown challenge blog for details of prizes.

I'm having a good day

Today I'm having a good day, no problem with my eyes so I've made a card. I decided I wanted to colour a Delicious Doodles image so I chose Blossom.
Yes, I do know that what I've coloured as leaves are actually the petals of the blossom but I'd already coloured one image correctly and decided to make a change with this one. I'd seen another card with them coloured as leaves so decided to give it a go myself and I like it, so there! lol (Secretly I do prefer them as petals but whoever I send this to will never notice, will they?)

I used a Joanna Sheen large card blank and the backing paper I'm sure hundreds of you will recognise - it's from Create and Craft YEARS ago and I've rarely used it. I matted it on to Papermill red card as the base for my image. I coloured Blossom with my Promarkers and the butterfly in a Sakura gelly roll pen so give it a glitter. I also matted the image on to red card. I then used my new Nellie Snellen diamond dies to cut some diamonds as embellishments and then added some Wild Orchid Crafts pearls. Job done and my eyes are still holding out, hurray!

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Delicious Doodles Challenge - Favourite DD image (not sure that's strictly true but Blossom is up there)
Card Mania - Flowers
Crafting from the Heart - Anything Goes
Dragonfly Challenge - Anything With Wings
The Sisters of Craft - Anything Goes

Thank you all for visiting and welcome to my new followers.

OSAAT #210 Anything Goes

This week's theme is Anything Goes. Come along and join us at One Stitch at a Time. I chose Coosty Creations' Squirrel image from the Stitchybear Digi Outlet. It's actually a Squirrel image and paper pack and you do get four backing papers with the image. I had already decided on my colour scheme of brown and grey so I didn't use the backing papers.

I coloured the image with my Promarkers and then cut it with a Spellbinders label die. The card blank is by Joanna Sheen and the backing paper is by Costco. I matted the backing paper on to Papermill's dark brown card as the base. The image was raised on pads to give a bit of dimension to the design. The dark brown card was also used for the corners cut with a Memory Box die. Another Spellbinder die was used for the lovely shape in the top left. The die cut below the image was, I think, a Cheery Lynn die but I'm not 100% sure. Some pearls  from Wild Orchid Crafts finished it off.

Please check the OSAAT blog for details of prizes.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

For a Special Female

I've been colouring this image for most of this week, starting and then stopping, as my eyes were playing up again. Eventually it was finished and I decided to tear it out rather than use a die. The image is called Delphinium and is by Delicious Doodles . I coloured it with my Promarkers and after tearing it I edged with Distress Ink. I generated the sentiment on the computer and tore this out too, edging it with Distress Ink and tying with a narrow lilac ribbon as a tag. My card blank is by Joanna Sheen and the backing paper is from a Papermania Capsule Collection in blue. I cut this with a Spellbinders grand nestie and matted it on to the purple card which is by Papermill. I used three little pearls in each corner and they are from Wild Orchid Crafts. It's a reasonably simple card but I think it looks quite effective and is for my niece's birthday (I have four nieces so I wonder which one will get this?).

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Delicious Doodles - For Mother's Day or For a Special Female

Crafty Little Fairies - Add a Tag

OSATT #177 - Back to School

Yes, the theme for this week is 'Back to School, so head over to One Stitch at a Time and add your offering and check out the rest of the DT cards. I chose 'Emma' by Sue of Beary Dust over at Stitchybear Digital Stamp Outlet.

I used a card blank by Joanna Sheen. I matted a freebie Portobello Road paper on to dark red Papermill card as the background to Emma. I coloured the image with my Promarkers and after edging the paper with a red Promarker, matted it on to more dark red card so that it would stand out against the backing paper. I got some freebie school stamps with Creative Stamping Magazine so used a couple of those. After colouring I edged them with the red Promarker and set them at an angle in the right panel. The sentiment was generated on the computer and added to one of my new Spellbinder Resplendent Rectangle dies. I used the smallest rectangle as an extra embellishment and added some Wild Orchid Craft pearls for a bit of bling! This young lady has nail varnish on her fingernails and toe nails, wears lipstick, has a fancy hairstyle and is just SO not ready for school!

Please head over to the OSAAT challenge blog for details of the prizes for this week.

I'm entering this card in to the following challenges:

A card just for fun!

Hello everyone - a second post for today! I made a card for fun, no design team work and I think this is one of only a handful I've made since Eric's death. I just haven't been in the mood for crafting and making my design team cards for Stitchybear has actually covered me for family and friend birthdays during the past year. This morning I've finished off a card I started earlier this week. I've been very remiss in my blog entries and blog visits so I must apologise to all those bloggers who have commented time and time again, each week, and had nothing in return from me.

I was going to enter it into the Joanna Sheen craft forum monthly challenge and then I thought I would add it to my blog too.

The large square card blank is by Joanna Sheen. The image is from Joanna Sheen's Enchanted Dreams CD. I matted it on to Papermill purple card. The backing paper is from Chocolate Baroque's Peacock Summer Party CD and I matted that on to Papermill's cerise card. The little butterflies are all cut with a Martha Stewart punch in various papers. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the leaves are all dies by Crealies and Marianne.

I'm entering it in to the following challenges:

Jellypark Friends Challenge - Celebrate Summer

OSAAT # 158 - Anything Goes

The theme this week at One Stitch at a Time is Anything Goes. It was Josephine's turn to pick an image for the two of us to use and she chose the Fuchsia and Hummingbird image by Teri over at Stitchybear Digital Stamp Store. Isn't it beautiful? I decided to go with the cerise/lilac fuchsia but there are many more colours that you could use.

I coloured the image with my Promarkers and then carefully cut round the outside edge. I matted it on to some bronze pearlescent card by Papermill which, in turn, was matted on to cerise Mirri board. The card blank is a large 8x8 square by Joanna Sheen. I used my Spellbinders Paris motif fancy border and added it to the bottom edge. The only thing to add then were the three pink pearls at the top right and three lilac pearls at the bottom left. The pearls are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

The sponsor this week is Stitchybear and check out the challenge blog for full details. Someone will win all the digis used by the DT on challenge 156!!!

OSAAT 156 - Use a Digi

The theme this week is Use a Digi so pop over to One Stitch at a Time and join us.  I used the image called Butterfly Scent by Kaz Krafts over at Stitchybear Digital Stamp Store.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and cut it with a Spellbinders grand nestie, backing it on to the larger size nestie in Papermill yellow card. The scalloped card blank is by Craft UK. I used a Martha Stewart punch around the page for the backing paper in ivory pearlescent paper, again from Papermill. After cutting it I found that it was slightly too big for the base card so I trimmed off the outside edge! I added butterflies in two different sizes, both Spellbinders dies. I layered the one at the bottom so it was yellow underneath and white on top with Wild Orchid Craft pearls down the body. I finished it off with three pearls at the top right.

The sponsor this week is Stitchybear and a lucky person will win all the images used by the DT on challenge 154 but do check out the challenge blog for details.

OSAAT #145 - 'New'

Happy New Year to you all.

The first challenge of the New Year over at One Stitch at a Time challenge blog and the theme is New. That means it can be new year, new baby, new craft items used, anything along the lines of 'new', good luck.

I chose the image of Catlady by Pookie over at Sitchybear Digital Stamps and decided to use her for a new year card. She would be welcomed at any new year party when she's wearing such a beautiful dress - I'm not so sure whether the big cat would be welcome though!!

I used a large scalloped card blank by Craft UK from Joanna Sheen. The embossed panel is white paper embossed using a Crafter's Companion Embossalicious folder and then matted on to purple Mirri card. Both panels had their corners rounded with a Carl corner punch. The image was coloured with my Promarkers and cut with a Spellbinders grand oval nestie and matted on to the scalloepd nestie. Her necklace was enhanced with some purple Stickles to add some glitz for that party! I used a Marianne die for the scroll and a Spellbinders die for the beautiful shape in the top right corner, it's from the Ironwork Motifs set. I generated the Happy New Year on the computer, rounded the corners, matted on to purple Mirri card as a small plaque and added three purple pearls from Wild Orchid Crafts.
