OSAAT #175 - In the Summer

The theme this week, over at One Stitch at a Time, is 'In the Summer'. I chose April's 'A Buggy', at Reece's Scrap Pieces at Stitchybear Digital Outlet.

Yikes, I thought - how do I make this image fit the theme? As it turned out it I didn't find it too hard to imagine that it was my holiday buggy all packed and ready to go holiday in the sun. I coloured the image with my Promarkers and cut it with a Spellbinders grand nestie. After cutting I used Distress Ink Squeezed Lemonade for the edges. The blank card base is an 8x8 square by Joanna Sheen and the bronze Mirri card is also from JS. I matted the First Editions, Hideway, glitter paper on to the tan Mirri card as the mat. The circular diecuts in the bottom left are by Marianne Creatables and the one in the top right is the centre of the same die. I then used my Whimsy pennant die to make the bunting which I strung together with orange silk and added the word Fun in red with my Whispers fine pen. I also added Sun 1 to the number plate on the buggy - I hope that's acceptable and not seen as altering the digi. :(  The lights were 'coloured' with a Sakura gelly roll pen, diamond, to give a hint of glass perhaps? Once the elements were all put together it looked OK and I think it passes muster.

The prizes can all be checked on the OSAAT blog - please come and join and check them out.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Circles

The LIM Challenge theme this week is Circles. I've used a small Craft UK card blank. I used a stencil of varying circle sizes and coloured them with Distress inks. The small flowers are from a stamp that I got a few years ago from I know not where! They are stamped in Memento and coloured with Whispers pens. I wasn't sure what type of sentiment to use so I decided to leave it until I decide whether it needs one.

Distress inks used: Black soot, Faded jeans, Dried marigold, Peeled paint

Pink and Blue Stitching

I've used a large square Craft UK card blank. The bright blue paper is from Papermill and the pink is from QVC. I have used a pink Whispers pen to do faux stitching round the pink paper. Both lace backing papers are from Joanna Sheen's lace pads. The LOTV image is stamped in Memento ink and coloured with Promarkers, set on a Spellbinders nestie oval and backed with a scalloped oval. I bought the ribbons in Australia and the pearls from Kanban. The sentiment is also LOTV and is cut with a circle nestie.

This card is to cover two challenges:
Lili of the Valley: Pink and Blue
Crafty Sentiments: Stitching

Thank you challenge card

My son and DIL breed Staffordshire Bull Terriers and they have had two litters in the last couple of weeks - ten in one litter and five in the other. Buffy had ten and five of her pups have died, they just stopped feeding so it was probably just nature playing its part. Anyway, they asked me to make a thank you card for their vet and it fits the bill perfectly for this Less is More Challenge. It's a large square Crafts UK white card. The Joanna Sheen Staffie stamp was stamped in Memento black ink and coloured with Promarkers. It was cut with a Spellbinders circle nestie and backed with a Papermill brown cardstock in a scalloped nestie. The sentiment was generated on the computer and set on nesties to match. I embossed a line down to the sentiment and up to the dog and then inked the embossed line with a Whispers pen. I've added both photos because the first looks a little blurred to me. I might have to brush up on my photography skills!!

Less is More Week 9 Challenge

I've made three challenge cards today - I haven't yet managed to make one card cover all! Anyway this is my take on this week's LIM challenge 'a touch of red'. Plain white Papermill card embossed with a Creative Expressions lattice folder. A red Hobbycraft sticky ribbon is down the edge of the embossing. A small freebie stamp 'For you' is stamped in Whispers cherry red in one of the 'spaces' in the lattice and a red gem heart is in another.

Another attempt at LIM Challenge

After making such a mess of yesterday's card I decided to have another go at the Less is More Challenge sketch. This is my second attempt today! I smudged the lines at the edge so had to start again. I certainly like it better than the other card. I've scanned this one so hopefully it will show up better than my photography. I've used Papermill white card, Hero Arts sentiment stamp and EK Success daisy stamp. I used Whispers pens for the colouring.
