IAAS Marine, Ocean or Sea

This challenge theme was set by Susie and she wants to see 'Marine, Ocean or Sea' on your makes so please come along and join us at International Art and Soul.

My card is a 7x7 card blank by Craft UK. The pale blue card was embossed with a Crafter's Companion embossing folder before matting on to bright turquoise card as the mat. The card is by Papermill. An image from the internet of the underwater ocean was set at an angle across the top left of the mat. The image of the turtle came from Joanna Sheen's Jayne Netley Mayhew CD and after printing this was also set at an angle across the bottom right. The sentiment is by Lili of the Valley and it was fussy cut and then edged with bright blue Distress Ink. It was fixed to the bottom of a bow die (I think made by Memory Box but I'm not sure). In the bottom left corner I used some John Lewis gold pebbles, to represent sand, and some shells by Beachcomber. Job done,

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Just Because I Can

Today I've made a card............just because I can. My eyes are open and this afternoon I don't have a problem so I've been able to finish this card which I really started on Saturday. Bad eyes stopped play so I had to give up and yesterday was a no go too.

Anyway, here it is, using one of the new images from Morgan's Etsy shop here. The digi is called Mystical Mermaid Selkie with Seal. I can hardly wait to colour the other images and make more cards but that all depends on how my eyes behave over the next few weeks. I'd had five days in a row when they were fine and I was so sure that I'd conquered the problem but then........... yesterday happened and this morning.

I used my Promarkers to colour her and then gave an overall spray of iridescent Spray and Sparkle from Crafter's Companion. I coloured directly on to the large card blank, from Joanna Sheen, with my Promarker and then sprayed that too so that it looks almost sparkly like the sea. A scrap of sandpaper became the floor with some scattered shells from Beachcomber. A small Crafty Bitz mermaid  was set on a Spellbinders die cut at the top of the card. Then I coloured some bits of raffia, it's supposed to look like seaweed but I'm not sure that that succeeded! lol The raffia is from Hobbycraft

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Crafty Sentiments Challenge - Animals
Fan-Tastic Tuesday Challenge - Anything Goes
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes
Try it on Tuesday - Use your Stash - the raffia, I've had for years and the shells, well, I keep using them but they will last forever!

MAWTT - I do like to be beside the seaside

Our hostess this week is Claire and she chose 'I do like to be beside the seaside' as the theme for this week's challenge over at Moving Along with the Times.

I used the image from Joanna' Sheen's 'Faye Whittaker collection' cd as I knew there were lots of lovely images of the seaside on it. This reminds me of when I was small standing at the edge of the sea and getting lost in dreams. It could have been me except I would have had very dark curly hair and probably a pink dress!

I used a Craft UK scalloped card blank. The pale blue card is from Papermill and the backing paper is also from the cd. I used my Spellbinder dies as you can see - I'd be lost without them. After cutting the image from the sheet I used my Carl corner rounder on the corners. The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley and is heat embossed with Sparkle and Sprinkle's Blueberry embossing powder. Some tiny shells from Beachcomber are the only embellishments.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Brown Sugar Challenge - Summer
Crafty Catz Challenge - Use 2 different dies

#143 OSAAT - More than one fold

The theme this week, over at One Stitch at a Time, is 'More than one Fold'. I chose the image from Donna's (Lil Diva) Mermaid Silhouette 4 pack on sale at Stitchybear Digital Stamps Shop.

I'm sorry these photos aren't very good, they're quite dark.

I used a sheet of Papermill white card for this one and scored it to about A6 size when folded. I printed the image on to white paper and then printed and cut out another mermaid image to use as a mask. My Distress Inks were used for the sea and the sand that the mermaid is sitting on. A few Beachcomber shells were used on the seabed, along with some gold 'pebbles' by John Lewis. On the two flaps I used blue paper that I had in my stash. It was printed from a CD and looked like sea/sky but I can't remember which CD it came from, sorry. I made a Happy Birthday plaque which I set above and to the side of the mermaid. Another panel was cut for the sender to write on I fixed this to the front inside page. I used Distress Ink again, on the plaque  and the writing panel, after cutting them with my Spellbinder dies. I used more of the sea/sky paper on the front panels and then used some darker blue card for the opening edges using a Martha Stewart punch.

My new Saturated Canary digi

I've made this card today with one of my new Saturated Canary digis. I've coloured her with Promarkers, cut it with a Spellbinders nestie and edged with Distress Ink. I used a Craft UK scalloped card blank and the blue and yellow card is from Papermill. The star paper is from Payper Box and is cut with a scalloped rectangle nestie. I used some Beachcomber shells in the corner and a Lili of the Valley sentiment in top right.

I'm entering my card in to the following challenges:

#104 Use a Digi

This week the theme over at One Stitch at a Time is Use a Digi and you can buy loads of super digis over at  the Stitchybear Digital Store.

There will be two prizes presented this week - the first from our sponsor who, this week, is Cropstop who'll be providing a £10 gift certificate.

The second prize will be from Stitchybear who will be presenting the mini collaboration to another winner.

My digi is Deep Sea Duncan by Claire of Hope Jacare Doodles over at Stitchybear. My friend's son is a Deep Sea Diver so I can see this card finding a home. Thanks, Claire, for this wonderful image.

My card is a large ivory coloured square from Craft UK. The backing paper is by Costco and it's matted on to Papermill's silver card which was supposed to shimmer like the sea. I coloured my image with Promarkers and after cutting it with a Spellbinders label nestie I used Distress Ink round the edges. I made a 'harpoon' with a cocktail stick and bound some rope round it and added a silver card point. The shells, scattered on the floor of the ocean, are from Beachcomber. I generated the Happy Birthday sentiment on the computer and cut it with nesties.

I'm entering the card into the following challenges:
Creative Craft Challenge - Boys will be Boys
Paper Pretties Challenge - Make a masculine card
The Paper Shelter - Anything Goes
Aud Sentiments - Happy Birthday
Sarah Hurley Challenge - Birthday Celebrations
Polka Doodles - For Boys or Men

Water Themed Sea Life!

I'm combining two challenges with this card as Crafty Sentiments have 'Water Themed' as their challenge and The CD Sunday challenge is 'Sea Life'.

I used a large square card blank by Craft UK. The tan and pale blue card used for matting and layering is from Papermill. Joanna Sheen's Jayne Netley Mayhew CD Part 2 provided the image and the backing paper. I trimmed the backing paper so that I only had the strip of shells showing across the bottom and I added some real shells, from Beachcomber, as a third row.

#89 Octopus Rockpool

The theme at One Stitch At A Time is Anything Goes. I chose the Octopus Rockpool digi by Claire of Hope Jacare at Stitchybear Stamps. I had so much fun colouring this image. I was waiting for a delivery of shells and my card was made for a few days before they arrived. They echo the shells on the backing paper perfectly. The yellow card is from Papermill and my card blank is by Craft UK. I coloured the image with my Promarkers and the 'water' is coloured with a stardust Sakura gelly roll pen. I cut round the edges of the rockpool and then raised it slightly over a Spellbinders circle nestie in silver card. The shells are by Beachcomber and the silver pebbles are by John Lewis.

The sponsor over at OSAAT this week is Creative Craft World so make sure you pop over to enter this one.

I'm entering this card in to the following challenges:
