INTAAS Fairies and/or Elves

Come along and join us at International Art and Soul with our challenge theme of Fairies and/or Elves. I chose to use a fairy.

My card is a 7x7 scalloped blank by Craft UK. For the mat I used pale yellow card by Hobbycraft and then matted on some yellowy/green paper by The Works. These were both cut with Spellbinder scalloped dies. The image is by Bugaboo and I coloured her with my Promarkers before cutting with a Spellbinders circle die. I matted this on to a yellow scalloped circle, again the card by Hobbycraft and the die by Spellbinders. I added Hobbycraft gems to the edge of her dress and the edge of her sleeve. The sentiment was generated on the computer and cut with another of Spellbinder's dies. I edged the sentiment with Distress Ink before adding to the top right of the image.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Love to Craft - Anything Goes
Crafty Creations - Anything Goes
I Love Promarkers - Anything Goes with option of Birthdays

International Art and Soul - Tags

Please come along and join us at International Art and Soul and show us what you can do with our theme of 'Tags'.

I'm afraid my tag isn't cropped very well. I have a new laptop and I can no longer use the programme that I used to use for cropping, colour, etc. Ugh, it's driving me mad though I suppose I'll get used to it eventually.

My tag is from The Works. I painted the background with Hobbycraft bronze acrylic paint. When it was dry I added the small Craft Box frame to the top and then added the cameo to the centre of the frame. I used some Snip Art circles for the bottom part of the tag and I cut some smaller sections for the top. Two or three of the circles I filled with bronze seed beads. The cameo, seed beads and Snip Art are all from Craft Box.My last touch was to use some jute for the tie. Job done.

I'm entering my tag into the following challenges:

Crafting with an Attitude - Always Anything Goes
Lemon Shortbread - Anything Goes
Creatalicious - Anything Goes with option of circles
Brown Sugar - Anything Goes
Creative Artiste - Anything Mixed Media

I'm having a problem with my eyes so I might not see you for a while. I'm taking a break from crafting until they settle down. Hope to see you soon.

IAAS Things with Wings

International Art and Soul have the lovely challenge theme of 'Things with Wings' so why not come along and join us?

My card blank is an 8x8 by Craft UK. The backing paper is from a pad by The Works and it's matted on to some of Anita's mirri card. The dragon fly stamp and sentiment are both by Visible Image. I stamped them both with Memento ink in Cocoa and then cut them with Spellbinder circle dies. I used more of the silver card to cut scalloped circles as backings for them. I coloured the dragon fly with Sakura glitter pens and the wings really glitter. I backed them on to their silver scalloped circles and then set them in place. I used Spellbinder dies again for two corners cut in the silver card. Job done.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

IAAS Stars and/or Stripes

I chose the theme for the challenge this week and it's 'Stars and/or Stripes'. Please come along to International Art and Soul and join us.

My card blank is a 6x6 by Craft UK. I used a Bugaboo image and I coloured him with my Promarkers before cutting with a Spellbinder die. The striped paper is from a pad by The Works. My red grosgrain ribbon came into play and I added a strip to the bottom and top edges of the card. I've had these small gold stars for what seems forever so I decided to use some of them dotted around the image. I generated the sentiment on the computer  printing it in red and cutting with another Spellbinder die. Job done and the card is quite cool - my only hope is that the recipient isn't offended by the 'old man' image. lol

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

International Art and Soul - Easter

Chriss set this theme of 'Easter' for International Art and Soul.

The card blank is 7x7 by Craft UK. The backing paper is from a paper pad by The Works. I matted it on to gold card by Hobbycraft as the base mat. I used a Dreamweaver metal stencil of a cross which I've had for about fifteen years and I can't remember ever using it. I coloured the cross with Distress Ink in Squeezed Lemonade colour and also embossed it so that the image was raised. I matted it on to gold card and set it to the top left. The sentiment was generated on the computer and cut with a Spellbinder die before matting on to more gold card cut with a Spellbinder scalloped rectangle. This was set to the bottom right.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
A Perfect Time to Craft - Anything Goes

IAAS Shades of Any Colour

The theme set by Jennie is 'Shades of Any Colour' so come along and join us at International Art and Soul.

My ivory card blank is 8x8 and by Craft UK. I smudged the edge of the card with Distress Ink in squeezed lemonade colour and then made a background mat. The mustard coloured spotted paper is by The Works and I matted it on to yellow card by Hobbycraft. The image is by Bugaboo and I coloured it with my Promarkers before cutting it out and adding to a mat of varying shades of Hobbycraft yellow card. I set it at an angle more or less centrally on the card and then just added some Mei Flower gems, in yellow of course, to the bottom corner.

Congratulations Christina

One of my Design Team sisters on International Art and Soul gave birth to a beautiful little boy earlier this month and this card is to welcome him into the world. I hope the new family enjoys lots of wonderful times in the years ahead. All the very best to Christina, Joshua and Ramesses.

I used an 8x8 Craft UK ivory coloured card blank. The yellow background paper is from a pad by The Works and I matted it on to Papermill pale blue card. The giraffe image is by Bugaboo and after colouring it with my Promarkers I cut it with a large classic oval Spellbinder die. It was then matted on to the scalloped oval die which I'd cut in the pale blue card. I set it to the right of the base mat and added two Memory Box dies of hearts on ribbons, again in the blue card. Next I used a small blue envelope which I bought from Create and Craft about twelve years ago! The giraffe is holding a letter in his mouth so I thought it could be a message to Ramesses, the new baby. I fixed the envelope in the bottom left corner and added a short 'letter' saying 'Welcome to the World Ramesses'. I haven't made a new baby card for so long and so I really enjoyed making this one.

My eyes aren't too good at the minute but I'm hoping it's just because I've been using my laptop a bit too much. I'm still having injections every eight or nine weeks and they certainly help but I think I'll have to stay away from my laptop as much as possible. I was so pleased that they behaved themselves as I made this card.

I'm entering it into the following challenges:

A Bit More Time to Craft - Anything Goes
A Perfect Time to Craft - Anything Goes

Moving Along with the Times - Texture

Come over to MAWTT and join in with the theme that I set - Texture. I decided to move away from a card for this challenge and decorate an MDF heart from The Works.

I painted the background with Imagination Crafts metallic paint. When it was dry I used a Joanna Sheen stencil with embossing paste to create lots of texture across the bottom of the heart and before it was dry I added Glamour Dust to make it glitter. Using Craft Box flowers and a silver coloured metallic charm I surrounded the edge of the embossing. The sentiment is by Visible Image and after stamping I cut it with a Spellbinder die and edged it with Distress Ink. I used Glossy Accents to seal it and give it a shine and then topped it with a Craft Box lilac flower. I added a few leaves cut with a Joanna Sheen die.

I'm entering my heart into the following challenges:
Creative Artiste - Anything Mixed Media Goes
Crafting with an Attitude - Always Anything Goes
A Perfect Time to Craft - Always Anything Goes

IAAS Paper Piecing

This challenge theme was set by Maggie over at International Art and Soul and it's 'Paper Piecing'.

I used a Craft UK 7x7 card blank and, on the front, with a shake of my Brushos made a colourful background for my image. The Bugaboo image of JJ was printed on white paper and two sheets of paper from 12x12 paper pads from The Works. I coloured parts of the image on the white paper with my Promarkers before cutting with a Spellbinder oval die. Next job was to cut out the sections of the image on the coloured papers that I wanted to paper piece. The trousers, blouse and three of the handbags were all cut out and then carefully placed on the image. It's quite a few years since I did any paper piecing so I was quite chuffed with how it turned out. I edged the oval with Distress Ink and set it against the Brushos background.  I generated the sentiment on the computer and cut it with another Spellbinder die before edging with Distress Ink. I thought it needed another splash of colour so used my Memory Box (I think) die of the flower or star - I'm not sure what it is - cut it in bright red card from Papermill and set it in the top right corner. Finished, I had fun making it and I think it turned out well.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Aud Sentiments - Happy Birthday
Seize the Birthday - Birthday and Vibrant Colours

Pause Dream Enjoy - Anything Goes

Fitztown - Use Green

This month the theme over at the Fitztown Challenge Blog is Use Green. I used the image Cameo 16 which is available at the Fitztown Store.

I used a large scalloped card blank by Craft UK. The pink card is by Papermill and I've matted a sheet of green backing paper from The Works on to it. The image was coloured with my Promarkers. If you've read my last post you will know that my Grand Calibur broke yesterday so I had to cut the image into a rectangle without using my dies. Ugh. I matted the image on to pink card too. All the corners were rounded with my Carl corner punch. Fortunately I had some leaves and swirls already cut and in my diecut box so I had to root around in there to find some to add to my flower.  My only other embellishments were some new iridescent gems from Reflections that I bought in Florida at Christmas.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Scrapbooker PhD challenge: Bling

MAWTT 3 in a row

This week it's Sue B's turn to host the challenge over at Moving Along with the Times and she chose as her theme 'Three in a Row'. WHAT I DIDN'T DO IS CHECK TO SEE WHAT THE THREE IN A ROW ENTAILED AND IT WAS MEANT TO BE A BINGO THREE IN A ROW, Therefore my card doesn't fit the criteria specified - so much for this design team member being on the ball! lol Please come along and join in with us and see if you can make a card that fits the bill. This is the Bingo card - please tell us which row you have used.

I can't believe this because I'd had so much hassle getting the card made in the first place.
I managed to get it started and then I had so much bother getting this card finished. My eyes have been really bad for weeks now and, fortunately, I was way ahead with all my DT cards, until this week! Ugh. To top it all off my grand calibur broke today as I was trying to emboss so my card has turned out completely different from the way it was imagined.

My large card blank is by Craft UK and the backing paper is from a vintage pad from The Works. I rounded the corners with my Carl corner punch. I'm so pleased that I'd managed to get the butterflies cut before the GC died completely. They are Spellbinder butterfly dies, medium and small size. The bunting is a Signature die by Joanna Sheen and the sentiment stamp is from a freebie in a magazine
(I think, if my memory serves me right) lol. The pink and purple card is all by Papermill.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Scrapper's Delights Challenge - Anything Goes
Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Things that Fly
Mema's Crafts March Challenge - Anything Goes
The Sisters of Craft Challenge - Anything Goes

MAWTT - Father's Day

This week the theme over at Moving Along with the Times is Father's Day.

This was a difficult one for me as I haven't had my father for almost 45 years and my father in law for twenty five years. My husband is dead and my two sons are, unfortunately, not fathers. I decided to make a Peter Rabbit card and give it to a friend's young sons to give to their father. The first version was rubbish and I threw it out. I decided to keep this one simple because my brain couldn't cope with anything more complicated. lol

It's a small Craft UK card blank and the navy blue card is from Papermill. The backing paper and image are both from a Crafter's Companion CD. The button is from The Works and the sentiment was generated on the computer. I can't say I enjoyed making this card and I can't say that I like it. :(

Another one for fun

Today after doing my ironing I decided to make a card. I'm so pleased that I'm eventually getting back into my crafting, I enjoy it so much once I get going.

My image is Tropical Masquerade by Delicious Doodles and you can buy it at the Delicious Doodles shop.

I enjoyed colouring the image, though it's not perfect by any means. The card blank is by Joanna Sheen and so is the purple Mirri card. The two backing papers are by Papermania. I used the purple Mirri card to cut two Marianne die swirls. I bought the little masks, I think they might have been from The Works, probably a year ago and this is the first time I've used one. My Promarkers were used for the image as per usual.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Delicious Doodles Challenge - For the love of animals
A Creative Romance Challenge - Girly Creations
Crafty Catz Challenge - Anything Goes
Left of Center Challenge - Girly

I want to thank all those followers who come and comment on my cards regularly when I just haven't felt able to reciprocate. I'm hoping that once I get settled into a new home, with my son and daughter in law, and have everything sorted out I'll feel able to slip into a routine.

Thank you all.

#94 Collaboration - The Tooth Fairy

Today the theme at One Stitch at a Time challenge blog is 'Use a Digi'. My papers are by Oase of Panda Bear Designs at Sitchybear Digital Stamps and the Tooth Fairy image is by Stitchy herself. The paper pack is Garden Fairies Pack one. I used the beautiful silvery blue paper with the pink fairy trails chasing across it and matted it on to silver card. I coloured the image with Promarkers and enhanced the wings with a Sakura stardust pen to give a glimmery look before carefully cutting it out. I used a Spellbinders classic circle nestie to cut a lovely silver patterned card as a backing for the fairy. She looks so cute, perched on that circle. The sentiment was generated on the computer. A silver metal flower/star shape from The Works is set at the top left. I have a drawer full of silver card but I have no idea where this came from - could have been any number of places I'm afraid, sorry. I love this image, it's so cute and I think it would make a perfect card for a child who has lost the first tooth - what a celebration when you find that £1 under your pillow! Or is more than that now? I haven't done it for quite a while. lol

Our sponsor for this challenge is Stitchybear herself - brilliant!
