I'm still here

My buyers backed out - due to health reasons - on the day the contracts were due to be signed. I'm still here minus some furniture and with most of my crafting supplies packed in crates. I've been trying to make some order in my craft room today so that I can eventually make a start on some crafting until another buyer turns up. I've had no viewers for the past two weeks so things aren't looking good.

I hope to be back crafting soon.

I'm moving

Hello

I'm going to be moving house in a few weeks so my crafting is going to be taking a back seat for a while.

I've lived in this house for twenty nine years so it will be a big upheaval for me. It's much too big for me and even with Lily, my Staffie, it's very lonely.

My son and daughter in law live in a little village in Northumberland and I'm going to be living very close to them. It means that they are there if I need help at any time. In a way I'm looking forward to it and I hope this is what Eric would want for me.

There are lovely walks for the dog - ether countryside or seaside - so she will be in her element.

The house is in need of some work so I'm taking a break from Moving Along with the Times DT until my new craft room is sorted and my internet is connected again. Aagh, so many things to think about.

Thank you all for staying with me over these past few years when my card making was very sparse. I'm hoping to be back with a vengeance very soon! lol

MAWTT Monsters and/or Aliens

This week, over at Moving Along with the Times, Tanja has set the theme of Monsters and/or Aliens. I didn't have any images or stamps of aliens or monsters so tried to draw one myself. One of my sons said that it looked like a skateboard with eyes so it got binned. lol He was eventually persuaded to draw one for me and it looks much better.

I used an 8 x 8 card blank by Joanna Sheen and made a mat of My Minds Eye fence paper. I coloured the image with my Promarkers and then cut it out very carefully before centring him on the fence. I surrounded him with Spellbinders die cut leaves in various sizes - he was supposed to look as if he was bursting out of the fence but I'm not sure I succeeded with that!! I generated the sentiment on the computer, added a little bit of red 'blood' and then stuck it in the monster's hand.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:
Crafty Sentiments: Anything Goes
Lemon Shortbread: Anything Goes
Through the Craft Room Door: Anything Goes
Crafting from the Heart: Anything Goes
Craft your Passion: Anything Goes
One Stitch at a Time: Anything Goes with Elements of Nature

MAWTT New Baby

This week the theme is New Baby and I decided to do a mixed media canvas as a change to my usual cards. I hope you like it. The theme was set by Beckie over at Moving Along with the Times so come along and join us.

I used a box canvas by Hobbycraft and then started to embellish. The main focal point was to the be the baby in the pram so I used my Lasting Impressions stencil with some Dreamweaver embossing paste. I added a piece of Snip Art to the bottom right corner as a starting point. I placed a strip of lace down the left side and this was from the local market. A wooden scroll was added to the bottom left, this and the Snip Art were both from Craft Box. A small piece of net was used to the right as a base for small baby items such as the bottle, hands and feet. A small wooden heart and a safety pin completed that piece. A small wooden frame, also from Craft Box, was added to the top right and inside I added the word Love which is a small wooden 'button' I've had for ages. Once I was in the button boxes I found some baby buttons which I thought I would add, along with a hugs and kisses button and another little curly scroll which went top left. The flowers were from Craft Box and I dotted them around before deciding the piece needed more texture so I dug out my Tim Holtz burlap stencil and embossed snatches of it in various spots. After adding another couple of safety pins I painted it all with white gesso from Daler Rowney and when that dried I picked out certain items to be blue, pink, yellow and green. After that was completely dry I coated it in Winsor and Newton clear gesso to seal it.

I'm entering this into the following challenges:
Crafty Creations - Anything Goes
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes
Crafting from the Heart - Anything Goes

MAWTT An Age Related Sentiment

The theme this week, over at Moving Along with the Times, is set by Jenny and is 'An Age Related Sentiment'. Perfect timing for me as it's my daughter in law's birthday on Friday.

I used a 7x7 Craft UK card blank and then matted a Papermania lilac paper on top. I have no idea where the purple card came from for the three purple glitter strips. I'm sure I didn't buy it anywhere so it must have been a gift from someone. The Bugaboo image was coloured with Promarkers and a Sakura diamond glitter pen for the icing on the cakes.I cut it with a Spellbinders die and used the smallest die from the same set for the sentiment - which is ALMOST from Bugaboo. The edges were all coloured with Dusty Concord Distress Ink. A strip of 'jewels' is the only embellishment,  again a gift from a crafty friend.

I hope I'm able to add my card to some challenges this week. My eyes weren't much better immediately after the injections but they seem much better now, almost three weeks later.

The challenges entered:
Crafty Sentiments: Anything Goes
Everybody for Art Challenge: For Girls
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes
Crafting from the Heart - Anything Goes
Craft your Passion: Anything Goes

MAWTT So 80s

The theme this week over at Moving Along with the Times is 'So 80s' and was set by Lena.  I must apologise for this card! The theme was a brilliant one but, unfortunately, my eyes haven't been at their best and I've had to make a quick card that doesn't do justice to me or the theme.

I used some very old stencils for the 80s, my brushos for the coloured edges and then some resin flowers. The colours are supposed to be fluorescent but I'm not sure that they even work, sorry.

I'm due at the hospital next week so hopefully the injections will improve my eyes and I'll be back on form before too long.

MAWTT Come Dancing

This week it's my turn to host the challenge over at Moving Along with the Times. I chose for my theme 'Come Dancing' and this is my card. Please pop over to the blog to see all of Team B's cards, they're all fantastic.

My base card is a 7x7 by UK Craft and the orange card is by Papermill. I embossed the white paper with a 'bows' embossing folder but I'm blowed if I can remember who made it, sorry. The embossed paper was matted on to the orange card and then I used a Sue Wilson die for the bottom fancy border. The two music dies are by Memory Box and I cut them in black card from Joanna Sheen. The dancing silhouette is by Stitchybear and is cut with a Spellbinders die. I used my new sentiment by Visible Image and cut with a smaller Spellbinder die, same shape as the silhouette, before edging with an orange Promarker. I raised it in the top corner and then all I had to do was add a few faux gems from JJD cards.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Crafty Sentiments - Anything Goes
Through the Craft Room Door - Always Anything Goes
Artistic Inspirations - Anything Goes
Craft Your Passion - Always Anything Goes
Dream Valley Challenges - Girlie

Thanks for visiting and thank you for your comments.

Moving Along with the Times - Purple Haze

This week the theme of the challenge over at Moving Along with the Times was set by Jan Small. Come along and join us as I'm sure it's a theme that you will all love - Purple Haze, which means you can use as many shades of purple as you wish.

This is the first time I've used one of my 7 x 7 cards, by Craft UK, that I bought at Ally Pally in September! I used Crafter's Companion purple card as the base mat and then embossed a pale lilac pearlised card, from I know not where, with a CC embossalicious folder. The image was coloured with my Promarkers and she is by Saturated Canary. After cutting into a rectangle I edged with Dusty Concord Distress Ink. The fancy scroll at the bottom is a lace die by Sue Wilson and the banner and number 2 are both by Joanna Sheen. They are cut in bright purple Mirri card.

My eyes are much improved, not perfect but I can just about live with them like this, thank you all for your best wishes.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Crafting from the Heart - Always Anything Goes
Craft Your Passion - Always Anything Goes
Crafting with Dragonflies - Birthday Card

MAWTT Things with Wings

Come over to Moving Along with the Times and join us in this week's challenge, the theme set by Judith of 'Things with Wings'. There's plenty of scope there for your creative juices to get working. I started off with  a bird at first and then changed to butterflies - they always seem happier to me! lol

I used a small square card from Craft UK and used bright blue card as a mat but where I got this card from I have no idea. I can't ever remember buying it. The little butterflies, cut in various colours with a Martha Stewart punch, were randomly placed around the Lili of the Valley sentiment. I matted the sentiment on to a gold scalloped circle cut with a Spellbinders die. The border of flowers is a Memory box die and after cutting it in white I coloured it with my Promarkers.

I'm hoping that my eyes will stay open long enough for me to enter into some challenges. I've typed this post all in one go so you can tell that my eyes have improved remarkably. I had a larger dose in my injections at the beginning of January and it's made a big difference - I've even noticed it myself. Thank you all for your kind wishes and I will get round to visiting you all soon, I hope.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Crafty Sentiments - Anything Goes
Creative Card Crew - Anything Goes
Through the Craft Room Door  Anything Goes
Crafty Cardmakers - Punches and/or Dies
Crafting from the Heart - Anything Goes
Craft your Passion - Anything Goes

MAWTT - Spots and Dots

The theme this week at Moving Along with the Times was set by Jessie and is Spots and Dots. I love using spots and dots so this theme suited me down to the ground. Come along and join us.

I used a card blank by Joanna Sheen and the yellow card is by Papermill. I used Spellbinder dies to make the fancy edge and the circles for the sentiment. The stencil is by Paperartsy and I used Distress Inks in various colours for the dots, I had fun with this. lol The sentiment 'Get Well Soon' was in gold peel offs (aaagh, first time for years that I've used these). This card has already been sent to a good friend who had a major heart operation.

All the best for the year ahead and thank you so much for staying with me when my posts have been thin on the ground.
