#111 Here Comes Summer

This week's challenge over at One Stitch at a Time is Here Comes Summer. I chose Barb's image of Sunflower for this challenge.You can buy it here.  I decided to make a bookmark. What could be better than sitting in the garden, in summer, and reading a book?

I used a piece of white card cut to size. The sunflower backing paper is from one of my CDs - unfortunately I can't remember which one as I had the sheet printed and in my 'yellow' drawer.  On the front of the card I used my Distress Ink in Mustard Seed to colour the background before adding the digi image of the Sunflower. I had coloured the flower with my Promarkers before cutting with my Spellbinders rectangle nestie, using the scalloped nestie for the mat. 'Enjoy Life's Moments' is a Hero Arts stamp which I stamped in Memento ink across the top. A Joanna Sheen tassel completed the bookmark after it had been laminated.

Fluff the Cat

 

I made this card yesterday but I've just managed to get the photo taken this morning. I've used a Craft UK card blank again - gone are the days when I used to score and make my own! It's an 8x 8 square and the backing paper is from a First Editions pad called Hideaway. The red card is from Papermill. The image is another that I won from Sweet 'n' Sassy and the face on this cat is priceless! I coloured it with Promarkers and after cutting with my Spellbinders oval nestie I used Distress Ink in Mustard Seed round the edges. I matted it on to the scalloped nestie in yellow card frorm Papermill and then matted that on to another grand oval nestie in red. I tucked an Ironworks motif under the image and a strip of Joanna Sheen's red organza ribbon is across the bottom. I then went the whole hog and cut some Whimsy bunting and Cuttlebug balloons. I used Creative Expressions baker's twine for the strings on balloons and bunting.

I made this card using Stitchybear's Poppy image which is available here. It's beautiful and needs very little added to the card to make it look good. I used a large card blank from Craft UK. The red card is from Papermill and was matted on to their black card. The silhouette image was printed and I rounded the corners before adding to the left side of the card. After that I simply added three strips of Hobbycraft black borders (which I can't seem to find in their shop now!). The final touch was a strip of red velvet rik rak ribbon laid down the broad black edge.

Spot the Dog

I won this digi image from Sweet 'n' Sassy and had to use it because he's so cute. I used a small square card blank from Craft UK. I've had the backing paper for ages and I believe it's from Victoria and Albert. The black card is from Papermill. After I'd matted the paper to the black card I set it at an angle across the card blank. I coloured the image with my Promarkers and used a Sakura stardust pen for his eyes and his disc. My Spellbinders nesties came into use again. One piece of Blackjack Card Candi was added to the bottom corner.

The challenge over at Whoopsi Daisy this week is Use a Flourish. My card blank is a large square from Craft UK. I used an image from Sheet 343, available here. The backing paper is from my stash and the lilac card is from Payper Box. I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder on a panel of the lilac card. One of the doileys from Nat's candy is also part of the background to the lovely image. I coloured her with Promarkers and then cut the image out with the Spellbinders rectangle nestie, adding the scalloped rectangle as the mat. I used two Spellbinders flourishes to the bottom and finished off the design of the card with some Card Candi at the top corners.

#110 Anything Goes

Today's challenge over at One Stitch at a Time is Anything Goes. My team mate Josephine chose  Sylvie's image of Swans (from the Stitchybear Digital Stamps Shop) for us to use and it was a very challenging image to colour............or not! I gave them just a few tinges of grey with one of my Promarkers and smudged it - mine are not perfectly white swans. I used Distress Inks to make the water and then cut the image with a Spellbinders grand nestie. I mounted it on to the larger size nestie in navy blue. One of my favourite Cuttlebug embossing folders came into play as I embossed the white paper with reeds and birds. The embossed panel was matted on to pale blue card from Papermill. I placed some white feathers just underneath the nesties to frame the bottom of the image. The card blank is a large square from Craft UK.

One Moment in Time

I won this Saturated Canary image by Krista Smith when I entered Kyms Crafty Card's challenge blog. I coloured her red, white and blue because of the Olympics, this year in London. I coloured her with my Promarkers and cut it out with a Spellbinders grand oval nestie, matting it on to a bright red Mirri card scalloped nestie. I used a firework backing paper from Oase at Stitchybear Digital Stamp Shop and matted that on to navy blue card from Papermill. I used some gold Mirri card to cut the Spellbinders Ironworks motif die and tucked it behind the image at the top left. The card blank is a large scalloped card from Craft UK.
